Three hours on the beach is all it takes here — the sun is stronger than it feels with a breeze coming off the water. Most burns settle down in a few days if you treat them properly in the first evening. Come in and we'll look at it with you: we're open every day until midnight and the advice costs nothing.
What actually helps
Cool the skin down first — a cool shower or damp cloths, never ice straight on the burn.
Drink more than you think you need. Burnt skin pulls water out of you for a day or two.
Soothing after-sun, applied often and lightly rather than once and thickly.
Stay covered for the next 48 hours. It's the second burn on the same skin that ruins a holiday.
Blisters, fever, chills, or a burn on a small child: come and see us before you put anything on it.
What people pick up here
